Jangbongdo Ongam Beach

인천광역시 옹진군 북도면 장봉로 227

Destination briefing

Why travelers stop here

Ongam Beach on Jangbongdo Island, famous for its mermaid legend, features a gently sloping white sand beach 50m wide and 2km long, surrounded by a dense forest of pine trees over 100 years old. It is also equipped with various convenience facilities, making it ideal for swimming. On the nearby uninhabited islands, the natural monument-designated yellow-billed egret inhabits. This indicates that seafood such as clams, octopus, and conch are abundant enough that the birds do not leave. Especially during low tide, the wide mudflats reveal plenty of clams, including moshi clams, dongjuk clams, littleneck clams, and hard clams, offering the joy of clam digging with the whole family. Additionally, fishing from the surrounding rocky shores yields good catches of goby, rockfish, black rockfish, and eel.
