Why travelers stop here
Ganghwa History Museum is a public museum established to preserve, research, and exhibit the cultural heritage of Ganghwa. It was originally located next to Gapgot Dondae and moved to its current location in 2010. The museum is equipped with various facilities, including a permanent exhibition hall, a special exhibition hall, and a video room. The permanent exhibition hall displays artifacts excavated from prehistoric sites and Goryeo royal tombs in Ganghwa, as well as cultural properties from local hyanggyo (Confucian schools) and traditional temples. The special exhibition hall hosts diverse themed exhibitions each year. To enhance understanding of Ganghwa's history, the museum also operates a video room and educational programs, fulfilling its role as a complex cultural space. Located next to Dolmen Park, the museum offers views of the Ganghwa Dolmen, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and the Ganghwa Jiseokmyo, a representative Bronze Age megalith measuring 710 cm in length and 550 cm in width.
