Sudeoksan

Destination briefing

Why travelers stop here

Sudeoksan (794m) is a mountain spanning Dodae-ri, Sobeop-ri, and Jeryeong-ri in Buk-myeon, Gapyeong-gun, Gyeonggi-do. At the summit of Sudeoksan, there are Sinseonbawi (a rock) and Daewonsa Temple. It is said that a high priest cultivated virtue and merit at Daewonsa, leading to the mountain being called 'Sudeoksan' or 'Suseopsan.' To the north of Sudeoksan, Hwaaksan and Aegibong are connected. Sudeoksan is not well known as a hiking destination, so there are few hikers, and it preserves its natural state well. There are four hiking courses. Course 1 starts at the Sang-gadulgi entrance, Course 2 at Dodae 1-ri Community Center, Course 3 at Jeryeong-ri Sangchon Bus Stop, and Course 4 at Hwaak-ri Sinchonmal Bus Stop, ascending to the summit of Sudeoksan and returning to the starting point.
