Yangpyeong Ssanggyeori Village

경기도 양평군 단월면 섬이길 274-2

Destination briefing

Why travelers stop here

Yangpyeong Ssanggyeori Village is a traditional farming village formed when the 17th ancestor of the Miryang Park clan, concerned that cattle might be injured due to the rugged terrain of the valley around the time of the Imjin War, wrapped a cow in brushwood and carried it on a jige (a Korean A-frame carrier) to settle here. Since then, a village community has formed, and a lifestyle coexisting with nature has been passed down. Along the Bongmi Mountain valley, clear water and wildflower colonies spread out, and the pine forest path offers a nature-friendly environment for forest bathing. Additionally, traces of past slash-and-burn farming and charcoal production remain, and the traditional farming method called 'Ssanggyeori farming,' which involves plowing fields with two cows, is still reenacted today, preserving traditional agricultural culture.
