Ungye Falls

경기도 파주시 적성면 감골길 48

Destination briefing

Why travelers stop here

Ungye Falls, a representative attraction of Gamaaksan Mountain in Jeokseong-myeon, Paju-si, is a charming 20m valley along the Silmacheon Stream. Boasting abundant water volume, it is also called 'Biryong Falls.' The scenery of blue water cascading down the cliff is spectacular. Due to its proximity to the Demilitarized Zone, Gamaaksan Mountain was a restricted area for a long time, so Ungye Falls remained relatively unknown and preserved in its natural state, untouched by many visitors. Additionally, because the water falls almost vertically, it is popular as an ice wall training site in winter. Entering from Seolma Bridge for about 3-4 minutes leads to a ticket booth and Geobukbawi Rest Area; following the path that winds around the left ridge reveals Ungye Falls. Recently, as restrictions have eased and the Gamaaksan Suspension Bridge has become famous, many tourists visit, making Ungye Falls increasingly well-known. However, entering the water at Ungye Falls is prohibited; only viewing is allowed. It is recommended to also explore Beomnyunsa Temple on Gamaaksan Mountain via the famous Gamaaksan Suspension Bridge.
