Why travelers stop here
Seowon-ri is divided into Wongol (1-ri), Seohwae and Sansugol (2-ri), and there is a theory that it was named Seowon-ri because it is located to the west of Wonju, and another theory that it became Seowon-ri because Wongol, where a magistrate used to rest in the past, was located to the west when viewed from Sangdong (now Yangdong). Most of the village's terrain consists of relatively gentle hilly areas, and Geumdangcheon Stream flows from north to south along the western side of the village. The village is lined with various attractions, and the entire village is located on the southern slope of a mountain range, so it is always sunny. The attractions of Seowon 2-ri each have their own characteristics, and they all have names and stories that are full of human warmth. There are also quiet and gentle hiking trails, making it a good village for various experiential activities.
