Jomurak Valley

경기도 가평군 북면 조무락골길

Destination briefing

Why travelers stop here

Jomurakgol, located in Jeongmok-ri, Buk-myeon, Gapyeong-gun, Gyeonggi-do, is a rugged valley at the uppermost stream of Gapyeongcheon Stream flowing along the foot of Seokryongsan Mountain. Over 6 km, waterfalls, pools, and ponds stretch in succession. It is said that the name Jomurak (meaning 'bird dance and music') was given because the scenery was so beautiful that birds danced and enjoyed themselves, or because the mountain birds chattered (jomurak). In Jomurak Valley, various pools such as Golbaengiso, Jungbangso, and Garaenamuso are lined up in a row, where the wide water flow narrows and the waterfall water swirls around. The scene reaches its peak at Bokhodeung Waterfall, where the water hits the rocks and spreads like a fan. Each pool is surrounded by rocks and trees, and cold wind blows from the crevices of the rocks even in midsummer. The way to Jomurakgol is as follows: pass through Gapyeong-eup, follow National Route 75 in Buk-myeon, pass the entrances to Yeoninsan Mountain and Myeongjisan Mountain, and arrive at Sampalgyo Bridge. The stream that continues from Sampalgyo Bridge is Seokryongcheon Stream, and the valley flowing along the hiking trail is Jomurakgol. If you climb the hiking trail for about 2 hours, you can reach the summit of Seokryongsan Mountain, and the Bokhodeung Waterfall halfway up the trail is a must-see attraction.
