Galgeogyegok Valley

From Jinan-eup, heading toward Jucheon via Jeongcheon, after about 2km you will find Galgeo Village. From here, a 7km deep Galgeogyegok Valley leads to the summit of Unjangsan Mountain. The valley along the hiking trail to Unjangsan Mountain features a 700-pyeong-wide Madangbawi Rock, Haegiso Pond, and the breathtaking Jeongmilpokpo Waterfall. The dense primeval forest, large and small waterfalls, and oddly shaped rocks and cliffs create a series of landscape paintings unfolding before your eyes. In autumn, the valley is dyed in splendid crimson and yellow maple leaves, creating a spectacular scene that rivals any national park. Although Unjangsan Mountain rises over 1,000 meters above sea level, the trail is gentle and cool, making it suitable for families to climb together. Nearby attractions include the Unjangsan Natural Recreation Forest and Cheonhwangsa Temple, allowing for combined sightseeing.
