Why travelers stop here
Named for its mane-like shape resembling a horse's mane, Galgi Mountain stands at 585 meters above sea level and is part of the Yangsan Eight Scenic Spots. Its rugged terrain and numerous rocky cliffs make it popular among climbers who enjoy rock climbing. The semi-circular main ridge forms a deep central valley, and the cliffs on both sides of the ridge offer the thrill of rock hiking. From the summit, you can overlook the Geumgang River, which flows cool and gently around the base of the mountain. Hiking courses include a 2.9km course starting from Galgi Mountain Tourist Farm, passing through Rock Wall - Rocking Rock - Summit - Horse Mane Ridge - Rock Wall Rope - Tiger Cave - and back to Galgi Mountain Tourist Farm; a 4km course from Parking Lot - Helipad - Rocking Rock - Summit - Horse Mane Ridge - Ridge Fork - Cold Pass - and back to Parking Lot; and a 5.7km traverse course from Parking Lot - Helipad - Rocking Rock - Summit - Horse Mane Ridge - Ridge Fork - Cold Pass (Sogol Descent Path) - Seonginbong Marker - Wolryeongbong Three-way Intersection - Grave 1 - Stream - Parking Lot. Although Galgi Mountain has many exposed rocky ridges that may appear challenging, the hiking trails alternate with pine tree paths, and since the starting and ending points are the same, it is convenient to park and enjoy the hike.
