Gangnam Cultural Center

Since its opening, Gangnam Cultural Center has offered over 30 cultural courses and hosted various cultural events including art exhibitions, calligraphy, reading, life essays, and traditional arts festivals. It operates a historical and cultural research institute to discover, inherit, and preserve local historical materials, and trains cultural commentators to promote awareness of Gangnam's history and culture in elementary and middle schools. Additionally, to discover talented artists, it holds the Gangnam Art Competition and Gangnam Calligraphy and Literary Painting Competition annually, and leads the dissemination of Korean culture through traditional arts competitions. To cultivate cultural values in youth, who will be the pillars of the future, it runs diverse programs such as reading competitions, Korean calligraphy, historical and cultural education, and traditional culture and arts. The Dogok-dong Yeonmal Cultural Festival, held on the fourth Sunday of October each year, is the only remaining and historically preserved Dodeanggut and Jaetmadangje ritual in the area south of the Han River in Seoul, and is an important cultural heritage that Gangnam-gu must preserve and pass on.
