Nearby, there are clusters of livestock cooperatives, Nonghyup Marts, and Saemaul Geumgo, and street vendors are formed in alleys and along roadsides, where seasonal local specialties are traded, revitalizing distribution functions. The main unique characteristic of Jungang Market is its local flavor, with active trading of specialty products, and it is frequently visited not only by the population within downtown Gangneung but also by people from the agricultural and fishing villages on the east coast. Additionally, when the annual Gangneung Danoje Festival is held for about a week at the Danojang area along the Namdaecheon Stream near Jungang Market, it becomes a traditional folk market in the Yeongdong region where various items from across the country gather.
