Gangneung Cultural Center

Gangneung Cultural Center was established in 1964 under the Local Cultural Center Promotion Act and is a non-profit special corporation founded to carry out local cultural projects for the promotion of regional culture. It aims to enhance the understanding and affection of Gangneung citizens for their local culture and to develop and improve their cultural and artistic sensibilities. The center conducts 25 projects in 7 fields, including local culture, professional personnel, culture and arts education, specialized projects, diversity projects, and affiliated organizations. In particular, the Gangneung Cultural Heritage Night Walk is held every July in the area of Gangneung Daedohobu Government Office, Toseong-ro, and Seobu Market. This event offers diverse performances, experiences, and arts along streets dense with cultural heritage, increasing the utilization of cultural properties and enhancing the preservation value through the enjoyment of the meaning and value of cultural heritage. It was selected as the nation's best cultural heritage night walk by the Cultural Heritage Administration in 2017, 2019, and 2021.
