Gangjin Gaetdeulsori Village

전남광주통합특별시 강진군 신전면 논정길 3

Destination briefing

Why travelers stop here

Gaetdeulsori Village (Nonjeong Village) is a semi-agricultural and semi-fishing village that relies on rice farming and the harvesting of marine resources such as cockles and natural oysters as its main sources of income. Since 1999, the village has practiced eco-friendly farming, including organic, no-pesticide, and low-pesticide methods. It is a village where you can observe the culture of fishing villages, including the Gangjin Sinjeon Field Song. From Deoknam Port, follow the coastal tourist road toward Sanaeho, then turn right onto Sinjeon-ro to reach the village. The surrounding area is mainly composed of rice paddies and fields, and beyond the hill in front of the village, Gangjin Bay spreads out before you, offering both land and sea resources. The 'Gangjin Sinjeon Field Song' is a representative field song of the Tamjin River basin, transmitted mainly in Gaetdeulsori Village (Nonjeong Village) and Yongwol-ri, Sinjeon-myeon, Gangjin County. It is highly connected to the agricultural culture of the southern coastal region and well preserves the original vitality of field songs. Its transmission was interrupted after the 1970s due to industrialization, the Korean War, and technological farming, but it was revived in 1997 with a performance at the Namdo Cultural Festival. In 2003, the Gangjin Field Song Preservation Society was organized to secure its transmission. It was designated as Jeollanam-do Intangible Cultural Property No. 38 on December 27, 2005.
