Geoje Museum

Geoje Museum is an institution under the Geoje Cultural Foundation. Opened on December 21, 1991, and registered with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism in 1992 as a comprehensive museum (folklore and archaeology fields), it collects, organizes, researches, and exhibits materials related to the history and folklore of Geoje. The first floor is a special exhibition space that can host various local cultural events (exhibitions). The second floor is a folklore room displaying folk items collected from Geoje, reflecting the island environment's semi-agricultural and semi-fishing production form, with many tools related to farming and fisheries. The third floor exhibits various artifacts from the prehistoric period to the Joseon Dynasty. In addition to the museum's core activities, it conducts many cultural and artistic projects such as general exhibitions for local residents (including orchids, stones, and photography), special exhibitions of folk items and collections, artifact drawing contests, classical music concerts, lectures by renowned figures, and family camps. Notably, it also serves a social education function through the Museum College and Graduate School, broadening local residents' knowledge and providing new information.
