Geocha Fishing Village Experience Village

Geocha Village is a village belonging to Masan-ri, Byeollyang-myeon. Poet Gwa Jae-gu described it as 'living is rough, so it is called Geocha Village.' The Geocha Mud Flat Boat Experience Center is a place where you can experience mud flat ecology on a 2-hectare wide mud flat, including riding mud flat boats, catching fiddler crabs, catching mudskippers, and catching mud snails. The representative experience is riding a mud flat boat, where you kneel on one knee, sit on the boat, push off the mud flat with the other leg, glide forward, and dig for fiddler crabs and clams. Both hands hold onto the mud flat boat. The mud flat boat is a board used by fishermen to dig for clams, made for experiential use. The boards used by fishermen are much longer and narrower to easily move across the mud flat to dig for clams far away. The participation fee for the mud flat boat experience includes the rental fee for experience clothing. Behind the experience center is a fishing ground jointly managed by fishermen, so you should not enter recklessly. When doing clam digging experiences, you must follow the guide's instructions to avoid causing damage to the fishermen. Geocha Village operates a campsite and homestay along with the mud flat boat experience center, so you can enjoy a special experience of staying overnight in a fishing village after experiencing the mud flat and swimming in shallow water facilities using seawater.
