Gyeongsangbuk-do Science Education Institute opened in April 1971 as Gyeongsangbuk-do Student Science Museum with the goal of improving the quality of science activities for faculty and students to promote science education, and was later renamed Gyeongsangbuk-do Science Education Institute. In spaces divided by theme, visitors can directly experience everything from basic science to advanced science and technology through exhibitions and hands-on activities, making it easy to understand and learn scientific principles. Gyeongsangbuk-do Science Education Institute consists of 6 floors. The first floor has an audiovisual room, a science experience plaza, and a fish experience hall, while the second floor has a planetarium and the history of the Earth. In addition, there are Techno Town, a biology laboratory, an earth science laboratory, and an astronomical observation room. Through exhibitions composed of a wide range of topics, visitors can directly experience various scientific principles and phenomena. Organized science inquiry and competition events include the Invention Competition, Youth Science Experience, and Invention Idea Drawing Contest, which help students develop the ability to explore science in a fun way.
