Infinity Flying

Gyeongju World Culture Expo Memorial Hall is a building designed by the world-renowned architectural master Kengo Kuma, inspired by Gyeongju Daereungwon (Royal Tombs) and columnar joints. It is a complex cultural space where valuable works by famous Korean and Chinese artists can be encountered, and artistic joy can be shared and experienced. The exhibition hall lobby consists of the 'Forest of Letters', which interprets the phrase '將恩被遠 與物霑均' in 25 major world languages and expresses it on mirrors; '108 Afflictions', a work by artist Nam June Paik that uses 108 monitors to express Eastern and Western culture and history through the Buddhist concept of 108 afflictions; and 'Culture Factory Lounge', which presents the records of past Gyeongju World Culture Expos through an archive zone and art wall. In the Memorial Exhibition Hall, visitors can see 'Transcendence', featuring works honoring Silla people in the world and world people in Silla; 'Doors of the World - Expo Timeline', which symbolizes the doors of major countries that interacted with Silla, expressing the exchange of civilizations at the Gyeongju World Culture Expo; and 'Path of All Directions', representing a liquid floor space transitioning from the past to the present. Additionally, in the Special Exhibition Hall, the 'Imaginary Animal Zoo', a media art exhibition that uses digital techniques such as augmented reality (AR) to express various imaginary animals from folk paintings, can be viewed.
