Why travelers stop here
After viewing dinosaur footprints at Sangjokam County Park in Hai-myeon, Goseong-gun, which is adjacent to Samcheonpo Port, you can create good memories by enjoying a coastal drive along the road that runs by the sea of Jaranman Bay. Driving along this coastal road with little vehicle traffic, you can fully enjoy the sea scent filling Jaranman Bay. In Jaranman Bay, a byword for clean waters, numerous small islands are spread out, including the largest island Jaran-do, as well as Mana-island, Yukseom, Jukdo, Solseom, Mokseom, Bamseom, Boriseom, Goeamseom, Nabiseom, Munraeseom, Nueunseom, Sochiseom, Witdaehoseom, and Araetdaehoseom. Oyster farms are developed between the islands of Jaranman Bay, and the white dots scattered on the blue sea are mostly buoys of oyster farms.
Driving along National Route 77 from Sangjokam County Park, you pass through the seat of Hai-myeon and arrive at the seat of Samsan-myeon. Turning onto the southern road in front of Samsan Elementary School leads to Pogyo Village in Dupo-ri, the southernmost village of Goseong-gun. Pogyo Village is located at the easternmost point of Jaranman Bay, which forms a semicircle. Although not a famous travel destination, the picturesque coastal village scenery of about 60 households unfolds at a glance like a postcard. In spring, white wild roses bloom here and there in the village.
