Public Hanok Week

The <2024 Public Hanok Week> will be held for 10 days from Friday, May 17 to Sunday, May 26, utilizing the architectural and cultural resources of Seoul Public Hanok to provide a unique cultural venue for citizens.<br><br>At Seoul Public Hanok, where anyone can experience hanok culture, the second festival has been prepared this year to spread the value of hanok with the artisans of Bukchon who carry on the tradition. Amid the changes in local culture and social structure woven by numerous tourists since the end of the pandemic last year, Bukchon Hanok Village has maintained its century-old tradition while growing with the times. In this revitalized local culture, issues regarding residents' right to stay and the environment have also emerged, and the Public Hanok Week, as a festival that considers local issues together, attempts to reflect and grow.<br><br>The increased movement and exchange between regions are boosting global demand and promoting regional development. Now, not only the residents of Bukchon but also the consumers and tourists visiting here have become important agents leading the local culture. Seoul Public Hanok aims to explore the potential for transformation of hanok assets by examining the current value of Bukchon.<br><br>As a cultural tourist destination where tradition and modernity coexist, Bukchon continuously sees various human and material resources joining its historicity, and there are scattered agents and resources that spread historical and cultural values for community contribution.
