Mudeung Library of Gwangju Metropolitan City

Opened in 1981 as the first of the Gwangju City Libraries, Mudeung Library is an old brick building with two basement floors and three above-ground floors, located inside Usan Neighborhood Park and adjacent to Malbau Market. Mudeung Library serves as the representative library of the Buk-gu area of Gwangju, overseeing interlibrary loan services in the Buk-gu district and organizing the library festival 『Library Culture Yard』. Additionally, Gwangju City Libraries operate the 『Hope Book Direct Loan Service』, which allows users to view desired books directly at local bookstores. This service has received great response from users for enabling them to borrow desired books quickly and conveniently. Ongoing programs include 『American Corner English Lounge』, 『Korean Painting Class』, 『Calligraphy Class』, 『Beginner Chinese Conversation』, and 『Book and Writing Reading Coaching』. On market days at the nearby Malbau Market, the streets are crowded with many people, bustling with numerous merchants and citizens. Usan Neighborhood Park features excellent walking paths and rest areas, and walking up a gentle slope leads to the entrance of Gwangju Metropolitan City Mudeung Library.
