경상북도 구미시 해평면 해평시장2길 19

Destination briefing

Why travelers stop here

Haepyeong-myeon, Gumi-si was a major hub of people's traffic during the reign of King Seonjo of the Joseon Dynasty, to the extent that there were a national inn called Sigawon and Haepyeong Guesthouse. Both inns were lost during the Imjin War, but as the village later developed commercially, a market naturally formed, marking the beginning of Gumi Haepyeong Market. A regular market began to form in earnest from the early 1920s and flourished in the 1960s and 1970s. In particular, the cattle market was a representative market in Gumi, with 200 to 300 cows traded daily. Market days start early in the morning and end at 3 PM. Products traded include Haepyeong Clean Rice (Geumosan Clean Rice), known for its cleanliness, as well as seasonal agricultural products such as watermelon, melon, peanuts, peppers, and garlic grown in clean, good environments like the fertile land and abundant water along the Nakdong River, along with daily necessities and food brought by outside merchants.
