Gumi Cultural Center

* Gumi Cultural Center, aiming to promote cultural development in the Gumi region * Gumi Cultural Center was established to develop, disseminate, preserve, transmit, and promote local indigenous culture; to research local history and collect and preserve historical materials; to hold local cultural events; to collect, preserve, and disseminate cultural materials; and to conduct social education activities related to local culture. The Seonsan Cultural Center of Seonsan-gun, Gyeongsangbuk-do, established on May 10, 1978, and the Gumi Cultural Center of Gumi-si, established on November 23, 1982, were merged with the integration of Gumi-si and Seonsan-gun into Gumi-si, leading to the establishment of the current Gumi Cultural Center on December 6, 1995. Gumi Cultural Center carries out tasks related to the transmission and preservation of local indigenous culture, such as Geumo Daeje, Mireukbulje, Seongsuyongjeongje, and Mueul Nongak Transmission and Preservation. It also publishes *Geumo Culture* and, in addition, publishes local historical material excavation surveys and folklore research books. Furthermore, it conducts tasks related to the collection and preservation of local historical materials, such as publishing research books on the Yeongnam School of Neo-Confucianism and conducting surveys of mountain cultural assets.<br /> * Citizen-oriented projects of Gumi Cultural Center *<br />Gumi Cultural Center operates citizen culture classes, cultural schools, and filial piety classrooms for the cultural life of citizens, striving for local social education. It also organizes various local festivals and events, such as the Gumi Festival, historical and cultural experiences, symposiums, Gyeongbuk Nongak performances, and the President Park birthday event. The cultural school for citizens includes hiking classes, calligraphy classes, traditional tea ceremony classes, classical dance classes, charming dance sports classes, four gracious plants classes, pungmul nongak classes, Chinese character classes, folk song classes, and belly dance classes. Additionally, it operates a cultural house and an affiliated local culture research institute.
