Why travelers stop here

Gumi City Folk Museum is a municipal folk museum located in Wonpyeong-dong, Gumi-si, Gyeongsangbuk-do. It was opened by Gumi City to enhance citizens' understanding of the history and culture of the Gumi region and to promote the local history and culture. The museum is a single-story building with one exhibition hall, one administration office, and one storage facility. It displays artifacts, models, and dioramas related to the seasonal customs of the Gumi area.

Seasonal customs refer to the traditional sociocultural practices of the agricultural era, when dates were calculated according to the lunar calendar and farming schedules were determined by the 24 solar terms. At this folk museum, visitors can see traditional ways of life, including celebrations of holidays such as Seollal (Lunar New Year), Dano (the 5th day of the 5th lunar month), and Chuseok (Korean Thanksgiving), as well as seasonal agricultural activities and leisure games. The museum also holds and exhibits agricultural tools, folk items, earthenware, and textiles that reveal the meaning of agricultural folk customs in the inland Yeongnam region, along with traditional work, play, and ritual characteristics of the agricultural era.
