Geumgang Wetland Ecological Park

Geumgang Wetland Ecological Park is a large park created by Gunsan City along the Geumgang River for the purpose of the Geumgang Lake tourist attraction development plan. The park features a reed forest walking path, an observation deck that allows visitors to cross the ecological pond, and a waterfront migratory bird trail. At the top of a small hill within the park, a pavilion has been built to offer a clear view of the Geumgang River. Bicycles are available for free rental at the park entrance, so hiking is also a good option. The migratory bird observatory located in the center is virtually a symbol of the park. It is renowned as a prime spot for birdwatching in Korea, and in November, against the sunset that dyes the Geumgang River red, visitors can witness the spectacular sight of millions of Baikal teals performing synchronized flights. In addition, various migratory birds such as whooper swans, swan geese, Eurasian spoonbills, black-faced spoonbills, mallards, spot-billed ducks, greater white-fronted geese, and black-tailed gulls can be observed along with silver grass and reeds, making it popular among families with children.
