Why travelers stop here
This is a space to reflect on the life of Cardinal Kim Sou-hwan, born in 1922 as the son of an earthenware potter. It is a restored version of the house where Cardinal Kim Sou-hwan lived with his family during his childhood. The thatched-roof house, with its narrow wooden porch and low eaves, exudes a simple and warm feeling. It shows that although he was Korea's first cardinal and a historically respected figure regardless of religion, he was born and raised in a small thatched house during his childhood. At the entrance, there is an earthenware kiln site, and it connects to the Love and Sharing Park, which features a Peace Forest and the Way of the Cross. It is a meaningful space to contemplate the cardinal's life and spirit, and the nearby memorial hall displays the cardinal's sculptures, his life history, and his priestly robes for visitors to see firsthand.
