Destination briefing
Why travelers stop here
Located near Jikjisa Temple, Gimcheon Eco-Friendly Ecological Park is a great place to relax on a sunny day, featuring lush green lawns, a cactus greenhouse, an ecological pond, and a royal azalea garden. Upon entering the park, a vast grassy plaza catches the eye, with desert lizard sculptures placed here and there, offering a unique landscape. The cactus greenhouse, with its striking transparent glass exterior, is filled with vibrant greenery even in the middle of winter. Inside the greenhouse, 600 cacti and succulents of 450 species are planted. Every spring, the royal azalea garden blooms with pale pink flowers. The garden, blending mountain azaleas, white azaleas, Yeongsanhong, and Jasanhong, creates a profuse flower field in May. Next to it, a traditional jangdokdae (fermentation pot stand), an observatory overlooking the park, and an exotic windmill add to the sights. It is a nice place for families and couples to take a walk.
