Gimhae Cultural Center was established in 1956 for the research and promotion of local culture, and it carries out projects for the development, dissemination, and transmission of unique local cultures, as well as research on local history. The building has one basement floor and two above-ground floors, with a total floor area of 2,039.4㎡ on a site of 3,194.4㎡. It has discovered and transmitted Gimhae O-gwangdae, a farmers' band, and Gimhae Seokjeon Play. Year-round cultural school classes are held, and it strives to satisfy citizens' cultural needs by hosting various cultural and artistic events such as a folk materials exhibition hall, a national gayageum competition, and a memorial writing contest for teacher Lee Yun-jae.
Gimhae Cultural Center serves as a bridgehead for cultural development by holding local cultural events for the dissemination of culture and exchanging local traditional culture with domestic and international entities.
