Namwon Mongsimjae

전북특별자치도 남원시 수지면 내호곡2길 19

Destination briefing

Why travelers stop here

Namwon Mongsimjae is a traditional house located in Hogok-ri, Suji-myeon, Namwon-si. It is said to have been built by Park Dong-sik (1753–1830) of the Juk-san Park clan, the seventh-generation ancestor of Park In-gi, who previously resided there. It well preserves the typical form of an upper-class home from the late Joseon period in the Jeonbuk region.

In front of the house, which is backed by a mountain, lies a low hill. Several buildings are positioned front and back along the steep slope of the mountain ridge, at different heights. Upon entering the gate, a wide yard appears, with the outer building and middle gate each built on high stone platforms. The inner building also has a high base, with the space below used as a cowshed.
