Why travelers stop here
Daeya Traditional Market is the only traditional market among the many in Gunsan that holds a five-day market. This place, full of various foods and things to see, forms a market stretching about 300m from next to the Daeya Police Box in Daeya-myeon, Gunsan-si to Daeya Raw Fish Restaurant. The five-day market is held on the 1st, 6th, 11th, 16th, 21st, and 26th of each month. During this period, tourists from nearby areas and local residents constantly visit, allowing you to fully experience the bustling atmosphere of a traditional market. True to its name as a traditional market, you can see old-fashioned snacks and puffed rice crackers simply displayed on the market streets, and you can also purchase various fresh seafood and agricultural products grown directly by farmers at affordable prices. Additionally, preserving its legacy as a former cattle market, it has been developed as a Hanwoo (Korean beef) specialized complex since 2007, where you can buy various cuts of Hanwoo. However, it is closed on the 31st, which occurs every two months.
