Why travelers stop here
Deogyusan National Park Jeoksang Observatory is located at the northern tip of Jeoksangho Lake, the upper reservoir of the Muju Pumped Storage Power Plant. The observatory, shaped like a giant chimney, is a surge tank for the power generation facilities of the Muju Pumped Storage Power Plant, which alleviates sudden pressure surges in the waterway when the generator stops. Climbing to the top of the observatory, which is about 3 to 4 stories high, offers a panoramic view of the Sobaek Mountains and Deogyusan Mountain. Visitors can enjoy the beautiful scenery of Muju by walking around the observatory. Especially in late autumn, the view harmonizes with the red autumn leaves of Jeoksangsan Mountain.
