Why travelers stop here
Dokcheon 5-day market has been open since October 1, 1964, and is held on the 4th and 9th of each month (on the 4th, 9th, 14th, 19th, 24th, and 29th of each month). It consists of a site area of 4,670㎡ and 934 stores, and is thriving along with about 200 nearby shops. In this traditional market, which opens regularly every five days, agricultural, fishery, and livestock products are actively traded. At one time, 100 to 200 cattle were traded per day at the cattle market. In particular, the three-legged octopus and salted seafood, specialties of Yeongam-gun, are famous, and outside visitors always crowd the market.
