Destination briefing

Why travelers stop here

Dongni Mokwol Literature Museum is a literature museum established in 2006 to honor novelist Kim Dongni and poet Park Mokwol, both from the Gyeongju area. It was built at the foot of Tohamsan Mountain to commemorate the literary achievements of novelist Kim Dongni and poet Park Mokwol, who left a significant mark on literary history. The museum operates the Dongni Mokwol Literary Creative Writing College, hosts the Dongni Mokwol Literary Award, organizes literary symposiums, poetry reading nights, national writing contests, the Dongni Mokwol Family Writing Contest, and literary symposiums, carrying out literary education projects and various activities in line with the two masters' legacy. On the second floor of the museum, there are the Dongni Literature Hall and Mokwol Literature Hall, where the study rooms of the two writers have been recreated to show their writing traces. Here, visitors can see writing tools, various documents, and published books. For easier understanding by young audiences, video content based on the novels and recorded poetry readings in the authors' own voices are also available. This place commemorates Gyeongju's representative literary figures, promotes Korean literature to the world, and fosters and discovers new cultural talents by creating a space for creative and experimental culture.
