Why travelers stop here
Dumusan Mountain, located on the border between Geochang-gun and Hapcheon-gun in Gyeongsangnam-do, is named because when viewed from below, the area near the summit is always shrouded in fog. During the Joseon Dynasty, it was also called Dumosan Mountain. The summit is about 20 meters to the left of the main ridge. To the south stands Odosan Mountain, with Suksungsan Mountain and Hapcheon Lake behind it. To the northwest lies the wide plain of Gajo-myeon, and to the south, high mountains rise steeply, making the Dumusan area rugged mountainous terrain. To the right of Odosan Mountain, there is a steep peak called Minyeobong (Beautiful Woman Peak), named for its resemblance to a woman lying down with her hair loose, giving birth. To the north, Bigyesan Mountain and Sirubong Peak are connected by a ridge. Near the summit of Dumusan Mountain, there is a place called Sinseon Tongsi (Immortal's Toilet), where it is said that an immortal from Dumusan Mountain looked toward Myosan-myeon, Hapcheon, and relieved himself. According to legend, in Myosan-myeon, which the immortal gazed upon, many outstanding figures are born, while in the opposite area, Gajo-myeon, the fertile soil produces many wealthy people.
