Duamchodang

전북특별자치도 고창군 아산면 영모정길 88

Destination briefing

Why travelers stop here

Duamchodang is a hanok (traditional Korean house) located on a cliff called Byeongbawi (Bottle Rock) in the back mountain of Yeongmojeong Village, Gochang-eup, North Jeolla Province. In the Byeongbawi area, there are also Sohanbawi (Small Table Rock) and Jeonjwabawi (Seated Rock), and Duamchodang is situated below the cliff carved into the middle of Sohanbawi. It offers a picturesque view with the cliff, and its appearance changes depending on the viewing angle, making it enjoyable to observe from various perspectives. It is also a place that evokes wonder at how a pavilion could be built in such a location and how it has been maintained for so long. There is a walking trail that allows close access to the pavilion. However, as it is part of a trail course, it is suitable for walking tours, but parking is not readily available, so visitors should take note.
