Destination briefing
Why travelers stop here
Built in 1991, Chilseong Observatory was newly remodeled on April 19, 2013, to suit a modern sensibility and developed as a security tourism product. On the day of the visit, visitors must bring their ID, fill out an application form at the Chilseong Observatory Information Center, and depart simultaneously with an escort. From Chilseong Observatory, visitors can see Geumseongcheon Stream, which is the only stream in South Korea that flows north and then into the Peace Dam, view the beautiful mountains and fields of North Korea, and observe wildlife within the DMZ.
