광주광역시 북구 풍암제길 14

Destination briefing

Why travelers stop here

Gwangju Chunghyo-dong Kiln Site (Historic Site No. 141) is an early Joseon Dynasty official kiln site located at the foot of Mudeungsan Mountain. In 1998, Gwangju Metropolitan City established an exhibition hall, and the Mudeungsan Buncheong Ware Exhibition Hall opened. The exhibition hall displays about 200 actual artifacts, including ceramics and production tools lent by the National Gwangju Museum, along with detailed explanations of buncheong ware production techniques such as inlay and stamping. Additionally, the entire buncheong ware production process, from kneading the clay to firing at the kiln site, is reproduced in miniature. In the kiln protection pavilion, Kiln No. 2, which best preserves the kiln structure including the combustion chamber, firing room, and entrance facilities, is preserved.
