Destination briefing

Why travelers stop here

There is a mountain where it is said that King Munmu buried weapons and helmets after completing the unification of the Three Kingdoms. This mountain, also called Dongdaebongsan or Mujangbong, neighbors Hamwolsan and Tohamsan. About a 15-minute drive from the Bomun Tourist Complex brings you to Amgok Village, the starting point for climbing Mujangsan. This rural village, famous for its water parsley, is crowded with hikers in autumn. They come to see the silver grass colony formed on the wide grassland at the summit of Mujangsan. This area was a ranch until the 1980s; after the ranch closed, silver grass naturally grew on the idle land, forming a colony. The beautiful scenery spread by word of mouth, and it became the backdrop for dramas such as 'Queen Seondeok' and the film 'Taegukgi', further increasing its fame.
