Bangjingwan (Bangjin Hall)

Bang Jin (Bangjin) was the father-in-law of Admiral Yi Sun-sin and served as the magistrate of Boseong County during the early reign of King Seonjo of Joseon. He was renowned for his exceptional archery skills, earning a reputation as one of the greatest archers of his time. Notably, during the reign of King Seonjo, there were many master archers, and Bang Jin left his mark alongside Admiral Yi Sun-sin. He had a wife, Lady Hwang, a daughter, and a son named Suk-ju. Bang Jin's daughter, who spent her childhood in Boseong, married Yi Sun-sin in 1565, who was two years her senior. Lady Bang was exceptionally intelligent and supported Yi Sun-sin during wartime, managing the household. After Yi Sun-sin died in battle, Lady Bang was granted the title of Jeonggyeong Bumin (a high-ranking noblewoman's title) and lived to the age of 80.

In 2015, Boseong County established the historical education center Bangjingwan to honor the spirit of Lady Bang, a symbol of Korean womanhood, and her father Bang Jin, aiming to enhance the pride of Boseong residents and local identity. On the wall next to the entrance of Bangjingwan, a mural depicts Admiral Yi Sun-sin's 10-day activities in Boseong. Inside Bangjingwan, records related to Admiral Yi Sun-sin, such as the Nanjung Ilgi (War Diary of Yi Sun-sin) that are connected to Boseong, are displayed.
