Why travelers stop here
Seoraksan, the beauty among mountains. As the highest peak (Daecheongbong 1,708m) in the Taebaek Mountain Range, the backbone of the Korean Peninsula, Seoraksan is the most beautiful mountain in South Korea. It evokes admiration from visitors in all seasons: various flowers like azaleas in spring, clear and clean valley streams in summer, autumn foliage around the Seorakje Festival period, and snow-covered winter scenery. With Hangyeryeong and Misiryeong as boundaries, the eastern side is called Oeseorak and the western side is Naeseorak. The area south of Hangyeryeong, Osaek District, is also classified as South Seorak. The South Seorak area has long been famous for Osaek mineral water and hot springs. Representative scenic spots include Yongsopokpo Falls, Sibipokpo Falls, and Yeosinpokpo Falls in the Jujeon Valley area, with beautiful mountain terrain. Jeombongsan (1,424.2m) also belongs to the South Seorak area. In the South Seorak area, representative hiking courses include the Osaek-Daecheong course and the Hangyeryeong-Kkeutcheong-Daecheong course. The entrance to the Osaek course is the national park ticket booth on the national road, above the Greenyard Hotel, and the entrance to the Hangyeryeong course is the Seorakru stairs next to the Hangyeryeong Rest Area.
