Elysian Gangchon Ski Resort

5 hr 30 min

Elysian Gangchon is the only resort in Korea accessible via the Gyeongchun Line subway or ITX-Cheongchun train. It is popular for its 6-person high-speed lift that minimizes waiting times and a premium ticket reservation system. Its biggest feature is providing an optimal environment for ski beginners. Not only can rental equipment be picked up directly at a dedicated counter, but the entire ski area is equipped with a safety network including lift fall prevention systems, safety fences, safety mats, and patrols in key areas, allowing beginners to use it with peace of mind.

Additionally, 8 out of 10 total slopes are for beginners and intermediates, making the difficulty level lower compared to other ski resorts. Separate beginner practice slopes and ski school instruction slopes are set up, allowing for comfortable and safe ski lessons from professional instructors. Intermediate and beginner skiers can use the summit rest area via the B lift connected to the peak. The introduction of a smart pricing system that addresses the shortcomings of existing ski resort fee structures is also one of the conveniences for using the ski resort.

Ski School - Gangchon Resort Ski School is established and operated to provide ski lessons desired by beginner skiers and advanced ski enthusiasts through the expansion of the skiing population and the education and dissemination of evolving new ski techniques. Furthermore, Gangchon Resort Ski School is composed of the best instructors in Korea certified by the Korea Ski Instructors Federation, and it operates to provide not only technical guidance but also substantial help for your ski trip.

At Gangchon Resort Ski School, ski and snowboard techniques are divided by level for systematic and specific learning in an easier and more interesting way. It is responsibly operated to ensure correct and accurate ski and snowboard education by focusing on instructors' technique demonstrations, technical application movements, and ski/board techniques including safety, with more time allocated to practice-oriented sessions.

It's very fun. It's my first time skiing and I feel that the CP value is very high. The instructor is also very attentive in teaching. However, even if you buy a full itinerary, you still have to pay for some equipment at your own expense: socks (buy, 15,000 won), headgear (buy, 15,000 won), Protective gear (rental, KRW 10,000), it is strongly recommended to bring a second pair of thick socks to wear when skiing. You can change back to the original socks when they get wet. As for headgear and protective gear, it depends on whether you need them? If you want, you can bring it there yourself, no need to rent or buy on site.

We were mixed with a Chinese Speaking group but the instructor always translate it to us in English and they were very accomodating. Ski-ing is hard for first timers especially if you are not sporty but if you love snow you'll enjoy it.

The free equipment rental included in the itinerary was a bit chaotic and time-consuming. The paid rental fees were very expensive, and if paying by credit card, an additional 10% service charge was required.

I originally thought about choosing a snowboard for my child's first time skiing, feeling a bit worried, and also concerned about buying tickets and not being able to use them. Unexpectedly, for their first time skiing, they took the cable car all the way to the top! It was truly surprising! The coach provides 1 hour of instruction, and then you have to practice on your own. It's crucial to make the most of that first hour of teaching by asking many questions and learning as much as possible. By the end of the day, both my child and I were able to take the cable car up and play, having a happy and unforgettable day.

Ski equipment is available but does not include the cable car fee. So if you learn to ski and don't take the cable car, you can only walk back to the high place yourself. Sliding down is not tiring; walking with the equipment is the most tiring part.

Sunday was a bit crowded, and there were people to pick up from the hotels, so the itinerary was delayed. But the coach worked hard. This itinerary is very convenient for those who want to experience skiing. One hour of teaching might not be enough to get the hang of it quickly, but in terms of value for money, I think it's good.

Coach Euni is beautiful and very kind. She guided us step-by-step. This skiing trip was a great experience. Although it was physically demanding, it was fun and enjoyable.

Elysian Gangchon Ski Resort is very suitable for beginners. The slope in the beginner's area is not steep, so it's not easy to fall. The guide and coach for this activity were also very dedicated to teaching everyone how to ski and ensuring they had a good time.
