Why travelers stop here
Dongmyo Flea Market started in the late 1980s. Although its scale has shrunk compared to its reputation, it remains a famous spot where all kinds of rare items gather. It covers a wide range of products, from clothing, shoes, and wallets to watches, electronics, old books, and movie posters. Items here are very cheap, almost feeling like they are free. Surprisingly, the most popular items at Dongmyo Flea Market are secondhand clothes. Merchants contract annually to buy clothes collected from apartment complex recycling bins at 250 to 300 won per kilogram. Most clothes are priced around 1,000 won, but fur or leather items can cost tens of thousands of won, and luxury goods may be priced at 100,000 won. As word spread, bargain hunters from other regions visit, and online shopping mall operators make bulk purchases. The best time for shopping is on holiday afternoons when about 250 street vendors set up their stalls.
It is partially open on weekdays, and fully open on weekends. It is a 5-minute walk from Exit 3 of Dongmyo Station on Subway Line 1.
