Destination briefing
Why travelers stop here
After liberation in 1949, Baekbeom Kim Gu established a 160-unit housing complex and Baekbeom Academy near Geumnam Market. It is said that as people began to gather around that area, a market naturally formed. Even now, a monument to Kim Gu stands at the three-way intersection in front of Geumnam Market. It is a typical alley market, consisting of street stalls along Dokseodang-ro and shops nestled in narrow alleys. Since 2005, the merchants' association has led modernization projects such as installing arcades and replacing lighting to provide customers with a more pleasant shopping environment. It is a landmark of Geumho-dong and a pro-people market where you can experience flavors and warmth not found in modern supermarkets.
