Destination briefing
Why travelers stop here
Cheolgyedanjip is a samgyeopsal (pork belly) specialty restaurant that serves fresh domestic raw female pork, slaughtered on the same day, rapidly chilled and sliced directly by the staff. The retro-style interior, created by remodeling a house, gives the feeling of being in the 1980s-90s. Upon entry, barley tea and side dishes such as scallion salad and rolled omelet are set out first, followed by square-shaped, rapidly chilled pork belly. The savory flavor of the pork belly pairs excellently with the sour kimchi (old kimchi) grilled together. The rich beef doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew) and mom's hand kimchi jjigae (kimchi stew), which go well with the meal, are also popular menu items.
