Destination briefing

Why travelers stop here

Dongdaemun History & Culture Park is a park created on the site of the former Dongdaemun Stadium in Jung-gu, Seoul. It is a theme park showcasing Seoul's old history and culture, as well as an exhibition hall and event venue where modern design and culture can be experienced, and a resting space for citizens. During the demolition of Dongdaemun Stadium and the park development in 2008, over 1,000 major artifacts were excavated, including 44 building site remains such as the Joseon Dynasty Seoul fortress structures Igan-sumun and Chiseong, and the sites of Hadogam and Hullyeondogam, as well as ceramics including Joseon white porcelain and Buncheong ware. The excavated artifacts are preserved and displayed throughout the park. At the park entrance, there is the Dongdaemun Stadium Memorial Hall, which exhibits memories of the old Dongdaemun Stadium, past sports event information, various sports-related artifacts, and a model of the old Dongdaemun Stadium. It is located 26 meters from Exit 1 of Dongdaemun History & Culture Park Station on Seoul Subway Lines 2, 4, and 5. Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP) and Sindang-dong Tteokbokki Street are within a 10-minute walk, making it convenient to explore together.
