Gaeseong Mandu Koong

서울특별시 종로구 인사동10길 11-3 (관훈동)

Destination briefing

Why travelers stop here

Gaeseong Mandu Gung has been run by a grandmother from Gaeseong since 1970 and is now in its third generation of operation. The characteristic of Gaeseong mandu is its large size and generous filling; the dumpling filling here uses plenty of napa cabbage and bean sprouts, giving it a light and mildly savory taste. The filling is carefully mixed with fresh ingredients every day. The mandu-guk (dumpling soup) and tteok-guk (rice cake soup) use broth made by simmering beef brisket, and this savory beef bone broth pairs excellently with the Gaeseong mandu. A variety of traditional liquors are also available, making it a good accompaniment to the meal. Additionally, the Gaeseong-style mandu-guk with joraengi tteok (small rice cake pieces) and dwaeji bossam (boiled pork wrap) are also popular.
