Why travelers stop here
Shinseunggwan is one of the oldest Chinese restaurants run by overseas Chinese, operated directly by a chef of Chinese descent and the owner who has maintained the kitchen for generations. Unlike corporate Chinese restaurants, it has been passed down through generations, allowing guests to experience a long-standing tradition. It is also a place that continuously researches and develops existing dishes in-house, introducing new menus to customers. The spinach dumplings, made with fresh spinach juice every morning and filled with selected fresh vegetables and various ingredients, or the stir-fried pufferfish meat, which is rare to find at other Chinese restaurants, fried and stir-fried with chili oil and doubanjiang, are said to be unique dishes exclusive to Shinseunggwan. Additionally, recommended menu items include the mild-flavored Jeon-gabok and shrimp solsal twigim, a dish fried softly and sweetly with a mix of cream and mustard sauce. With its unique jajangmyeon sauce, it is a place that boasts the most delicious jajangmyeon, the most important dish in a Chinese restaurant.
