Why travelers stop here
Located near Dongmak Beach on Ganghwado Island, Seonsu Port is known as the largest port on Ganghwado Island. Although its official name has been changed to 'Hupo Port', it is still more commonly referred to as 'Seonsu Port'. This is a typical small fishing village where you can see mudflats, fishing boats, and flocks of seagulls. Due to strong currents and a large tidal range, the mudflats are rich in nutrients, earning Seonsu Port the nickname 'Bandengi Port' for its abundant catch of bandengi (a type of herring). From April to early July each year, many people visit the port to enjoy the delicacy of raw bandengi. Most restaurants at the fish market own their own fishing boats, so they catch bandengi directly, making it cheaper and fresher than in other regions. Nearby attractions include Jeondeungsa Temple and Dongmak Beach, and driving along the coastal road offers beautiful sunset views.
