Destination briefing

Why travelers stop here

The Ganghwa War Museum displays artifacts related to wars that occurred in Ganghwa. Due to its geopolitical location, Ganghwa Island has a long history of resistance. The museum exhibits 120 war artifacts from the prehistoric era to modern and contemporary times. The exhibition hall is divided into four themes: Exhibition Hall 1 covers the prehistoric period to the Three Kingdoms period, displaying stone arrowheads and ring-pommel swords; Exhibition Hall 2 features artifacts from the Goryeo Dynasty, such as iron helmets with silver inlay, iron helmets, and iron knives; Exhibition Hall 3 showcases the Sujagi (a flag used by General Eo Jae-yeon during the Shinmiyangyo incident at Gwangseongbo Fortress) and cotton armor; Exhibition Hall 4 displays modern and contemporary artifacts, including the Bulranggi cannon (a main artillery piece of the Joseon Dynasty) and matchlock guns used by anti-Japanese righteous armies. Additionally, there is a corner for experiencing the anti-Japanese righteous army and a photo zone.
