Bupyeong Cultural Center was established in May 1998 with the purpose of promoting Bupyeong's local culture and developing and enhancing the cultural and artistic sensibilities of district residents. The first director, Cho Gi-jun, was inaugurated, and in July 1998, it was approved as a local cultural center. In August 1998, it received non-profit corporation status. In April 1999, the Local History Research Committee was launched. In 2001, it was selected as an excellent institution in the national cultural infrastructure management and operation evaluation hosted by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. In 2004, it operated the Bupyeong Cultural Love Room and received the Grand Prize in the local cultural center management and operation evaluation. In 2005, it operated the Bupyeong Miracle Library, and after relocating the Bupyeong Cultural Center building in 2013, it has been operating the Bupyeong History Museum. In 2014, Bupyeong Dure Nori was designated as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Incheon. In 2016, it received the Korea Cultural Center Award in the Local Culture Promotion category for the development and dissemination of unique culture, and in 2017, it received the Korea Cultural Center Award in the Talent category for creative activists. It conducts projects for inheriting traditional culture, developing local culture, preserving and transmitting cultural heritage, supporting the golden age, and cultural arts education. It plans to continue striving for cultural development rooted in the unique characteristics of the Bupyeong area and to enhance cultural pride.
