Why travelers stop here
Started in 2014, Haksan Madang Play Nolae is a representative citizen creative arts festival hosted and organized by Michuhol Haksan Cultural Center in Michuhol-gu, Incheon, where citizens directly create and enjoy original plays. It is a lively madang (open-air performance space) where residents gather in the village to communicate through culture and share creative performances that reflect local issues or life stories with their neighbors. The festival has evolved into a venue for citizen culture and arts that spans various forms of artistic expression, including creative Nanta (percussion) plays, mask dance plays, theater, puppet shows, musical plays, and three-dimensional reading plays. For a resident-led community arts festival created by local residents, residents, artists, related organizations, and institutions collaborate to foster the growth of community arts and the development of local culture.
